A magnificently embroidered book cover in the Elizabethan manner, over an edition of ‘Bundle of Ballads’ by Henry Morley, well embroidered in silk thread and bullion with a scrolling tree inhabited by a pair of cats above a pair of monkeys who are teasing a pair of dogs below with a bone on a string (!).
Book issued 1891, embroidered cover soon after.

Considerable wear to embroidery and book spine, fading, losses.
