A beautiful vintage glass paperweight by Perthshire, 1976 – Christmas Poinsettia art glass, beautifully made with individually moulded florets and petals in glass, as well as Perthshire’s signature canework to the border.
Perthshire Paperweights was a Scottish glassworks set up by Stuart Drysdale in 1968. He had experience at one of the great modern glassworks Vasart Glass and continued as manager when that company became Strathearn Glass. He left Strathearn in 1968 to form a new glassworks which would only make high quality paperweights.
This lovely vintage art glass paperweight has the Perthshire signature cane in the base consisting of a ‘P’. Drysdale’s ambition was to make the highest quality of paperweights to rival the best 19th century French paperweights. There is no doubt that the quality achieved at Perthshire Paperweights was superb.
Unfortunately upon Stuart and his son Neil’s death in 1990 and 2001, Perthshire Paperweights closed down in early 2002.
5.5cm high x 7.7cm diameter.
Excellent vintage condition with original Perthshire paper label.
