Chinese export silver dragon placecard holder

Dating from the mid to late 19th century, this charming Chinese export silver dragon figural placecard holder has the artisan’s mark Cum Ji to the base of one foot; retailer’s mark is missing, but it was likely made in Canton or Shanghai during the 19th century, and similar to pieces retailed by Wang Hing and other firms of note.

An elegant little piece with well depicted features and an engraved scale pattern throughout the body.
