Australian Digital Radio

Australiandigitalradio.com.au, is, well one person: me, Ron Sherry. I’m a 40-year collector of Australian valve/tube radios. I celebrate early valve technology, Bakelite and classic Australian manufacture. With this in mind, my radios are built to a standard that takes in to account  the way things were, the way we thought and the effort we went to, to make radios that had beautiful curves, style and function for our beautiful country,

We have available:

The New Yorker
The magnificent Empire state radio, made in Australia from c.1935 now in the top 10 of collectable radios in the world, now here for a new century. Named the ‘NEW YORKER” these radios are in 4 colours RED-BLUE-GREEN- AND BLACK with chrome trim and black knobs. Features: Proper old school with a touch of the 21 century, ie: AM/FM, dial on the front, blue tooth switch at rear, sound quality is achieved via a 6inch oval speaker with 2 tweeters inside the cone (triple cone speaker, 30 watt).240/120vac inbuilt power supply (USA friendly). Easy to operate, no fuss, simple elegance all day, every day… a statement piece right there in your kitchen. $330

Lil Lottie
In 1946 this radio was released to the Australian public. Marketed as a second set for the home, it boasted all the full tonal features of a table model but could fit in the palm of your hand. Fast forward to 2021, what a celebration of Australia’s radio past! “Lil Lottie” offers you an exact reproduction of this ‘caravan” looking radio, with Dab+, FM-Bluetooth -usb (at rear to charge your phone). Sound reproduction is achieved by a quality twin cone speaker. Shows a digital clock that is always on, plus a twin alarm system. This may well be the last clock radio you will ever buy, in five great colours: black-alabaster-white- brown -walnut brown. Note: there is no “AM”, all am/fm stations are now encompassed on DAB+  even has a right angled plug for snug up against the wall fitting.. so instead of reaching for your phone, why not sit back and turn on the ‘wireless’. $198

When you buy from me you buy into our manufacturing past. You’re buying exact replicas of the fabulous 1930s and ‘40s , but with the latest technology, made properly, not cheaply, as unfortunately we’re all used to now.

And finally, you’re supporting an Aussie initiative. When you buy from Australian Digital Radio you are buying quality radio pieces that will give you joy every time you admire them.  In a new century of smart phones and a busy world, why not sit back and “turn on the wireless”.
