Every year since 2009 without fail, on the third weekend of February an empty sports oval is transformed from a mere footy ground, into the most exciting antique shopping experience you could imagine, 125 stallholders from four states, will be clamouring for your attention, bargains and treasures will be there for the having.
Not since the heady days of Fryers Town has there been a fair anything like the size of Maldon.
Both buyers and sellers have Maldon locked in as a must do Fair, and why wouldn’t they?
The sites are 60 square metres; that’s a small shop! Time that by 125, and you are looking at almost two acres of retail space, effectively more than triple Maldon’s day to day retail space.
All this treasure spread out on a stella dust free venue with lush grass and all within an easy stroll to ATMs, hotels, great places to eat and, dare I say it, even more antiques shops.
Maldon is so much more than simply home to the greatest antique fair in Australia, we also have museums.
We have historic walks and an active historic steam rail system complete with a station and workshops.
With great places to both eat and drink, if you do decide to visit Maldon during the antique fair, your dilemma won’t be finding ways to fill your days; it will be finding ways to fit everything you want to do into those days, what a glorious problem to have.
