Have you ever wished to have the skills to apply gold and silver leaf to your furniture, frames and artwork? Or to embellish your cornices, columns, walls and ceilings with metal leaf? Work for yourself from home at your own pace? German Master Gilder Karl Eggert can make your dream come true – and you need no prior knowledge of gilding.
Learning the art of framing and church restoration in Germany from master gilders, Karl has a broad knowledge and more than 60 years’ experience in gilding. This is reflected in his teaching program at the Art Gilding Academy, where classes are kept to a maximum of six students to ensure the best learning experience.
The Professional Master Gilding Class is fully hands-on and runs over a seven-day period, within which students learn more than they could in a three-year apprenticeship including professional water gilding, this is the only place in Australia offering these classes – there is a maximum of four students per class. Our Masterclass students are invited to work with us on architectural gilding services with payment. For more information please refer to our blogs on our website.
The Academy’s associated Art Gilding Studio was founded in 1976 and offers gilding, restoration and conservation services on picture and mirror frames.
