Wood I Build It

Rocking Horse Restorations. Restorations are carried out to meet a client’s requirements which can be a partial or full restoration including repairs to broken or cracked limbs, head, neck or other joints and the removal of lead-based paint.

With numerous coats of primer and finish coats of lead-free paint, the horse can be restored to imitate its original decoration.

I only use the best quality material available including hair on the hide for the mane, tail and forelock.  Real leather is used for saddles, stirrups, bridles and reins with matching colour leather-trimmed tartan saddle clothes.

I use polished brass hardware including swing iron brackets, stirrups, bits and bowler hats. Restorations also include attention to the stand which often requires a total reconstruction and repaint.

The finished result of my restoration work often receives an emotional “welcome home” from its happy owner.
