This mid-1950s Australian Diana pottery basket is embossed with gumnuts and leaves and is in perfect condition, measuring 24cm x 15cm x 14cm.
By the early 1950s the Diana Pottery, established in Sydney, had more than 70 employees and the pottery was experimenting with ‘Australian’ colours, often hand colouring the wares with the greens and browns of the eucalypt bush, as seen with glazing for this basket. The wares previously made in pastel colours were reintroduced using the new colourway, which was enthusiastically received by an Australian public.
