When we sourced this miniature portrait on ivory it was housed in a very dilapidated and substandard frame, odd given the fine nature of the work itself. In early 2026 we had the portrait professionally re framed with a large double cream matte board and gilt timber frame extending its life.
The miniature which has been executed on a fine sheet of ivory depicts a young woman in a white dress that is adorned with blue bows, holding a bunch of cornflowers.
The piece is dated and signed in the bottom right hand corner for 1838, however the name of the artist is unfortunately too fine and is illegible.
Measures: 51.5cm high x 45.5cm (frame) – 15.5cm high x 10.5cm wide (miniature).
