The French adopted the percussion ignition system in 1840 and soon started converting existing arms. This model 1822, with original, numbered powder measure/rammer is one of them.
The .69 calibre, smoothbore, tapering barrel with bulbous, front sight measures 7 ¾ inches with the whole pistol measuring 13 ¾ inches. The serial number ‘727’ and remnants of dates and proofs still remain on the barrel
The manufacturing arsenal’s details ‘Mre Rle / de Maubeuge’ are clearly visible on the lock. The action is in very good working order.
The regulation brass furniture with various inspection marks, is in good condition.
