An unsigned, percussion coat pistol, probably Irish, made around 1840. The shape of the grip and flat top barrel suggest Irish rather than British manufacture.
The .48 calibre, smoothbore, sighted barrel measures 4 ¼ inches with the whole pistol measuring 8 ½ inches.
The unadorned, back action lock is in working order.
The iron furniture and stock with a short, chequered grip are in good condition. The brass tipped rammer may or not be original to the pistol.
Sold as a collector item only.
