$2600

A pair of mid-century bentwood and leather armchairs with matched footstool by Åke Fribytter for Nelo, Sweden, in excellent original condition.

This beautifully crafted pair of bentwood and leather armchairs, complete with a matched footstool, is an iconic design by Åke Fribytter for Nelo, Sweden. Fribytter, known for his mastery of ergonomic Scandinavian furniture, designed these chairs to combine sculptural elegance with exceptional comfort. Nelo, a respected Swedish manufacturer, produced high-quality furniture that epitomised the mid-century modern aesthetic, making this set a prime example of their craftsmanship.

The fluid bentwood frames provide both flexibility and support, while the deep, supple brown leather cushions add a luxurious touch. Designed with relaxation in mind, these chairs feature a gently reclined backrest and a generously sized seat, ensuring maximum comfort.

Each chair measures 74cm high, 72cm wide, and 86cm deep, with a seat height of 40cm and a seat depth of 51cm. The matching footstool stands at 38cm high, 47cm wide, and 44cm deep, making it the perfect companion for extended lounging.

This set is in excellent original condition, with beautifully aged leather and a rich patina that enhances its vintage appeal. Noted minor imperfections include a small scuff and an indent to the top right-hand side of one leather arm cover, and three round holes—each approximately 1cm in diameter—on the footstool leather, where it appears buttons may have once been.

A true testament to Swedish mid-century craftsmanship, this pair of chairs and footstool is a superb choice for collectors and enthusiasts of timeless Scandinavian design.
