Small pocket flintlock c.1815

A small pocket flintlock marked Dunderdale, Mabson & Labron made around 1815. The firm of Dunderdale, Mabson & Labron operated in Birmingham from 1803 till 1821.

The .47 calibre, round, smoothbore barrel measures 1 ½ inches with the whole pistol measuring 6 inches. The screw off barrel is stuck fast.

The box lock is clearly marked ‘DUNDERDALE, MABSON & LABRON’ on the lefthand side and the breech has Birmingham proofs.

Note that while the main spring is strong there is no full or half cock nor does the trigger drop down.

The walnut grip has a vacant echelon and there is some slight movement from the frame.
