An attractive, Spanish, miquelet coat pistol from around 1770. The maker is unknown.
The .70 calibre, smoothbore, multi-faceted barrel measures 5 ¼ inches while the whole pistol measures 10 inches.
The barrel has silver inlaid decorations up to the chiselled girdle and a now indistinct barrel maker’s mark at the breech.
The miquelet lock does not hold full cock.
All of the brass furniture, including a vacant wrist echelon, have some form of engraving. The remains of a belt hook appear on the side plate.
The full-length stock, which feature a horn fore-end, is in good condition. The rammer appears original to the pistol.
All in all, an original Spanish miquelet in fair condition.
