Step back in time at the Historic Village Herberton

The annual Pioneer Weekend returns on May 30 and 31

It’s back: one of Herberton’s most popular events. Pioneer Weekend brings together live music, steam train rides, working machinery, pioneer demonstrations and family activities across two days of living history at the Historic Village Herberton on May 30 and 31.

Dress in period costume and step back into the 1880s, experiencing life in a Queensland pioneer town through blacksmithing, camp oven cooking, tin panning and live demonstrations of old-world trades and machinery.

Enjoy live music, Fashions on the Field, steam train rides, food stalls, a petting zoo, traditional games and our personal favourite: hay wagon rides!

“It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the region’s pioneering history while bringing the community together for a really enjoyable weekend,” said Craig Kimberley, who with wife Connie owns the Village. “People love seeing the machinery in action, hearing the music throughout the Village and experiencing the hands-on activities that give a glimpse into how life once was.”

Historic Village Herberton is at 6 Broadway, Herberton, Qld 4887 and admission to Pioneer Weekend is $46 for adults and $22 for children (a family pass is $116). The Village is open from 9am to 5pm for Pioneer Weekend. Click here for details.
