The Sydney Fair returns to Royal Randwick Racecourse for its largest edition yet at the end of May, bringing together 60 of Australia’s leading dealers to present thousands of remarkable and highly sought-after pieces.
From Thursday 28 May to Sunday 31 May, the Kensington Room at Royal Randwick will once again be transformed into a destination for collectors and enthusiasts, showcasing furniture, fine art, decorative arts, jewellery, prints and posters, antiquities, books, vintage fashion, couture and designer vintage from around the world.
Among the remarkable pieces expected at this year’s fair are a spectacular pair of earrings by the renowned jeweller Fabergé, a specialist collection of rare taxidermied peacocks, an English Royal Tipstaff and antiquities dating back to 1000 BC. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet specialists and explore pieces spanning antiques, Art Deco, mid-century modern and contemporary eras, with everything for sale including pieces on the Runway.
The fair will also feature a lively program of fashion parades, talks and special presentations built around this year’s theme, The Femme Fatale. Highlights include Fashions from Emilio Pucci and Something to Slip Into, a presentation dedicated to vintage lingerie.
Jewellery expert Trevor Hancock, frequently heard on ABC Radio, will present a talk on the history of jewellery including pieces from the Australian goldfields, while Hayden Peters will explore jewellery associated with the glamour and mystique of the Femme Fatale. Additional talks and presentations will be announced in the lead-up to the fair, with all events included in the ticket price. For more info go to:
